Chicago Law Daily Law Bulletin Buys Complete Tera Content Management Solution

Davie, Fla. – The oldest daily courts newspaper in the United States is buying a complete editorial content management system suite from Tera Digital Publishing to allow it to develop a single newsroom operation to simultaneously produce print products and its subscription-only web site.

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, founded in 1854, will become a single PC-platform publication for all tasks, using Tera’s GN3 editorial system, Tark XML-based archive, and its “one-click-to-the-web” GNWeb and GNPortal web products.

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin serves the largest single unified court system in America and is read by thousands of lawyers across the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Indiana each day.

“The new Tera system will allow us to present a new dynamic face to the paper and web site that will be particularly attractive to younger attorneys”, says Fred Faulkner, vice president of information technology at the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

The new system will also allow the Law Bulletin Publishing Company – one of the oldest companies in Chicago – to add a new look-and-feel to a series of print, web and data base electronic products, says Faulkner.

Key to the company’s decision to buy Tera was the realization that GN3 together with GNWeb and GNPortal would allow the newsroom managers themselves to control the content of the web sites.

GNWeb provides complete website management with such features as versioning, content-locking and web analytics. When matched with Tera’s GNPortal, content can be acquired, validated, normalized, and added to the GN3 work?ow stream automatically.

In use, GNWeb together with GN3’s article-based content management mean that a website is one more content distribution channel, like the printed edition of the newspaper — only instantly.

GN3’s article-based content organization allows the publisher to de?ne the elements that comprise an article as part of system con?guration. For example, a publisher may de?ne multiple headlines and assign each headline to a title or website (or multiple titles and websites). Work?ows proceed independently of where the content will be published. When it is time to publish, the correct story elements are sent to the channel, whether electronic, such as the web or a mobile device, or a traditional printed channel.

Tera’s GN3 workflow is completely media neutral.
